Sudokus are a bonus. Any full line ships. Each tile is worth 1–9 story points. Ship a line holding all nine different numbers to score a SUDOKU: ×3 if you're quick, shrinking to ×2 then ×1.5 as Chad's timer drains, so don't overthink it. Tickets that can make one get a gold 🧮 badge, and the spots glow gold when you pick them up. (Wavy underline = that number is already in this row, column or box.)

Tech debt (the ? tiles) pushes up from the bottom every few tickets. The strip under the board shows the next row coming. Clear lines with ? tiles to pay it down for bonus points and more time. Nobody knows what legacy code does, so ? counts as any number in a SUDOKU. If it goes over the top, or no ticket fits, you're moved to the backlog.

Chad is waiting. Place a ticket before the timer runs out, or tech debt creeps closer. Placing fast earns a ⚡ bonus.

Escalations are your way out when it gets rough: descope, groom the backlog, or get an extension. We’ll suggest the right one when you need it. Hold up to 3; you get one every sprint at first, then every other sprint, and more with promotions.

Every sprint ends in a minigame. Ship 12 tickets and a surprise meeting starts: an interview, an outage, an offsite, a flight. Get through a few sprints to meet them.

You start with 2 Excuses. When you would lose, one is used up: it clears some space and you carry on. Flunking a minigame, or walking out of one, costs one too; some win you another.
